Pinot noir is our flagship wine, for which we have received many awards at wine shows over the years. Because we are a small vineyard, we do not blend so each vintage produces a notably different wine, depending on the climatic conditions. The dominant flavours are of raspberries, dark cherries and plums.
Before you taste, make sure you enjoy the aroma of the wine – pinot noir has a beautiful, soft and very characteristic fragrance.
All of our pinots change with age – the rustic ‘forest floor’ flavours, so characteristic of pinot noir, will develop over time. You can confidently cellar our pinots for at least 5 years – in a dark place where the temperature does not fluctuate too much.
2005 Pinot Noir The 2005 season was well balanced with good growing conditions throughout. The result is classic, medium-bodied, cool climate pinot noir in the style of traditional French Burgundy. The single word which best describes this wine is ….. elegant. It drinks well by itself but, like all good dry wine, it is great with food - try it with mushrooms, roast lamb or pork.
2006 Pinot Noir This season finished strongly, with good sunshine, so the fruit was beautifully ripe when picked. This has resulted in a full bodied, flavorsome wine. It is one of our favourites, by itself or with food – try it with a mature cheddar cheese. And it is heavenly with duck. |
